Recycling Used Cooking Oil to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil Biodiesel

CWC Integrated Sustainability Project

CWC is dedicated to Integrated Sustainability and an important aspect of this is our mission to support eco-friendly initiatives, to build a more responsible future for the energy sector in Hong Kong, and to support charity whenever we can.

The incorrect disposal of used cooking oil leads to environmental damage by contaminating water resources and soil, as well as negatively impacting aquatic ecosystems.

As part of our Integrated Sustainability to promote better waste management, CWC has since 2017 recycled all its waste cooking oil.  To date, CWC has recycled 2,396 Litres of waste oil.

Recycled cooking oil serves as a sustainable and valuable base resource, which can be converted to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil Biodiesel.  This eco-substance can be used to replace traditional diesel fuel and provides a higher quality end product.

Our Integrated Sustainability approach not only supports environmental protection in Hong Kong, but also results in money being generated from the collection of waste oil.  CWC believes that this revenue that is generated from saving the environment should be gifted to charity.  Therefore, over the past seven years, CWC has donated all waste oil revenue to various charities.  Most recently donations were made to the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), and to Dog Rescue Hong Kong.
