Located in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, Chateau Musar was founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930, who was inspired by his travels to Bordeaux and 6,000 years of Lebanese wine history. His son, Serge, was named Decanter Magazine’s first “Man of the Year”, during the Lebanese Civil War in 1984, for his efforts in perfecting the formula for Musar Red. The estate is now run by Gaston and Marc, sons of Serge.
Chateau Musar is an icon of Lebanese heritage, creating unique expressions which reflect the traditional wine-making culture and organic viticulture. In 2021 Musar was named as one of the top ten of “The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands” and “The Most Admired Wine Brand in Middle East & Africa”.
