CWG Pre-Auction Wine Dinner and Tasting: Tuesday 30th September
&
Pre-auction Tasting only of the 2025 CWG Auction Wines: Monday 29th September

This is a special, advance invitation to attend the 2025 CWG Pre-Auction Wine Dinner and tasting on Tuesday, 30th September, and the Pre-auction Tasting on Monday, 29th September.
The CWG has once again generously donated 47 samples of the 2025 CWG auction wines for us to taste, while enjoying a wonderful South African inspired multi-course food menu.
Due to the generosity of the CWG, the dinner and tasting of 47 wines is priced at only HK$588 per person.
Only 20 seats are available to previous buyers and as such, we will give preference to the buyers themselves first. All seats will be allocated on a first response basis.
A Pre-auction Tasting will be held the following night featuring the same auction wines. This will be more accessible, and a dedicated flyer will be sent more broadly to all those interested.
Background:
The anticipation is mounting as the 41st Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild (CWG) Auction will be held from 12:30 on Friday, 3rd October to 09:00 Saturday, 4 October 2025 (South Africa Standard Time), hosted by Strass & Co, South Africa’s leading art and wine auction house. This Live and Online Auction will be held at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, take place on the Friday afternoon and Saturday.
Showcasing rare and unique wines produced in small quantities exclusively for the auction, this year’s auction will see a total of 48 wines. This year, wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to bid on 30 red wines, 17 white wines, and one exciting first-ever addition to the line-up.
This Virtual Live Auction will be hosted by Strauss & Co. Being a Virtual Libe auction, online, telephonic and commission bidding will also be available. Those wishing to bid will be able to register online with Strass & Co from Thursday, 21st August 2025 at www.straussart.co.za
While another online auction “The CWG Protégé Programme Auction” is starting from Thursday, 21st August at 08:00 and closes on Monday, 6th October 18:00, each lot will close one minute after the previous lot has closed. Lots will remain open if bidders are still currently bidding on that lot, and active lots will close once the final bid has been placed.
The Hong Kong tasting of the 2025 CWG Auction wines and the CWG Protégé wines will be held on Tuesday, 30th September.
Given the high value and rarity of the wines on offer, all potential bidders attending this free tasting are requested to complete a simple registration document. This can be done prior to the event via Wincy Lai and Rachel Ip, or alternatively, a registration table will be set up at the event to complete a registration form, the list of wines and a tasting glass.
The Cape Winemakers Guild Auction is recognized as South Africa’s leading wine auction and since 1982, it has become a benchmark of excellence and the CWG label is widely held as an authentic assurance of quality and craftsmanship.
The majority of the wines on offer are produced in extremely low quantities making them very sought after.
Interested parties have the opportunity to bid online directly this year, or as part of a consolidated CWC bid. CWC will assist with the transportation of the wines from South Africa to Hong Kong.
As with previous years, the CWC consolidated bid will be a syndicate of buyers for those who prefer just a few bottles of each wine.
